Babies are in my future (no, I’m not pregnant…yet) and everyone knows once you start popping those suckers out, you lose the ability to be quite so selfish with your time and money. For just that reason, Ryan decided that 2018 would be the year we go nuts traveling and skiing our faces off. And holy moly, have we done just that this winter!

Yes – I said it. Prenatal Vitamins.
When I get an idea in my head, I like to do A LOT of research. Even if the research (in this case, having babies) doesn’t apply directly to me at this point in my life (and probably won’t for several months to come). I want to be educated (right now!) on things that could potentially affect me down the line. The idea is that I gather all relevant data (as well as create a cost analysis spreadsheet…obviously) to have at the ready for when we decide it’s time to pull the trigger.

I am very excited because tonight is pizza-making date night with the hubby. It’s a recent phenomenon that I’ve gotten Ryan into the kitchen to help and, while I don’t want to jinx it, I think he’s secretly enjoying it. We’ve been making an effort to spend more time together aside from the time we spend watching TV and sleeping. As much as Ryan would love to consider sleeping “quality time”, it’s just not. And quality time happens to be one of my love languages (read the book The Five Love Languages for some context).

I have no idea when I started to love cooking, but it is a fact that Ryan hates cooking. He’d prefer to order take-out every night if it saves him 15 minutes in the kitchen cooking, baking, doing dishes or just staring at me and waiting patiently for the dinner bell. Slowly but surely, I’ve found ways to get him involved (much to his chagrin).
This is one of my favorite meal prep recipes because I can flavor it however I like. Some of my favorite sauces to add to this dish:

Who else thinks they gained about 10 pounds over the holidays? Every time I see a Christmas cookie (stashed in the freezer for year-long enjoyment), my sweet tooth tells me yes, my head tells me no…(queue tummy grumble).
Sticking to a healthy diet during the holiday season is tough. What I think is even tougher is making a resolution to eat healthy for the month of January and sticking with that harsh diet for the rest of the year.
Friends ask me all the time what I do to satisfy my sweet tooth without falling off the wagon after a healthy day of eating.
Plan ahead for cravings!
My answer is that I plan ahead for cravings. I make sure to have my favorite healthy-ish sweet snacks in the house for when I am rummaging around like a starved sugar addict in my pantry. I’m talking about something easy to grab when you just need a HIT of something good.
